HDC is pleased to announce that Natalie Thornton joined HDC as a senior asset management project manager in November. As part of HDC’s four-person asset management team, Natalie will provide customized technical assistance and training to help mission-driven housing owners achieve their goals. Natalie brings direct experience managing the portfolios of nonprofit owners to her new role at HDC. Her work focuses on ensuring that the affordable homes we invest in today are available to residents who need them in the future. We’re thrilled to welcome Natalie to HDC!

More about Natalie: Prior to joining HDC, Natalie oversaw the asset management program at Community Partners for Affordable Housing, where she set policies and priorities, cross-trained staff, managed the triple-bottom-line of a portfolio of 532 affordable rental units, and secured $6.8 million in preservation funding to address the needs of aging properties. As an asset management coordinator at Our Just Future (then Human Solutions), Natalie monitored the financial, physical, compliance, and mission performance of 720 affordable homes, partnering closely with resident services to improve resident outcomes. Natalie has worked in the housing department of Catholic Charities of Oregon and as a property manager in the private sector in San Diego, Calif. She holds a B.A. in sociology from Smith College, where she studied quantitative and qualitative research and data analysis methods with an emphasis on race, poverty, and gender. Natalie is working toward her Certified Housing Asset Manager (CHAM) certification, with expected completion in 2025.
